During our regular meeting, Charlotte Miller, the LCIF coordinator, installed the officers for next year.
The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, June 10, 2015, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Bob Hunter called the meeting to order at 8:07 pm and acted as Chairman, with the following members present:
John Beals Jim Fenn Loren Heckathorne Barb Howard Larry Howard Bob Hunter Charlene Jarboe Steve Jordening Paul Malsom Willy Morfitt Jerry Radke Susan Radke
Treasurer John Beals presented the Financial Report. Jerry Radke moved to accept the financial reports, Second by Charlene Jarboe. Motion passed.
Secretary Loren Heckathorne read Minutes from the May 13 Board Meeting. Motion was made by John Beals, Second by Susan Radke to approve the Minutes. Motion passed.
Two bills were presented: John Beals mentioned the bill from Winsor Manor of $388, but no Board action is required for paying meal expenses. Jerry and Susan Radke attended the State Convention, for $78. Charlene Jarboe made a motion to pay the bills, Second by Susan Radke. Motion passed. Susan noted that Jerry was recognized and given the President's Award at the state convention.
President Hunter, hearing no objections, confirmed that our fall fundraiser will be September 13.
Youth Exchange Sweet Corn and Bologna feed is scheduled for Monday, July 13. We need to feed 40 to 50 people at Camp Hantesa. Loren Heckathorne and Willy Morfitt volunteered to help Charlene Jarboe at the feed.
President Hunter received a letter from Lori Dodd about purchasing advertising in the Guide to Nevada. This advertisement will cost $275. This item was postponed until the July Board meeting.
President Hunter received an e-mail from Sarah Engbretson concerning the Iowa Cubs baseball game of July 20. We need more information on this, so President Hunter will e-mail Sarah requesting how to get tickets.
There was a note from Youth and Shelter Services requesting a contribution, but we declined.
Bob Hunter received a call from Lynn at the Chamber of Commerce as part of the Chamber's new promotion. She asked two questions: What do you love about Nevada and what do you want known about Nevada.
Willy Morfitt didn#c#it have anything new to report on eyeglasses.
John Beals will be gone for several weeks and Bob Hunter will pick up the recycling paper at the Nevada Journal during his absence.
Bob Hunter reported that the Paper Recycling truck is about 2/3 full.
The picnic will be next month and we postponed the discussion of where to have it until July. The Scholarship winners were Benjamin Burling and Olivia Logsdon. Secretary Heckathorne should contact them and invite them to the picnic, where ever it will be held.
Charlotte Miller had a children#c#is book about Kidsight, which she gave to us. John Beals accepted the book on behalf of the Nevada Lions Club and thanked Charlotte.
We postponed discussion of the Crocket fundraiser project until next month.
President Hunter adjourned the meeting at 8:30.
We had another board Meeting Jun 24 -- after the regular meeting, at about 7:40 pm. Those attending were:

Jim brought in the membership application for Elijah Hansen. Elijah included a check for the initiation fee and one year's dues. Jim mentioned that he may not regularly attend our dinner meetings. Willy moved to accept his application, Second by Charlene. Motion passed.
Jim also talked about the Lions grills. They are rusting because the sealing grease is running off in the hot weather. The grills will be stored horizontally from now on. Jim also had the grills sand blasted and painted, but the cast-iron cooking surface was not painted. He submitted a $66.30 bill for this work. Jim also talked about the need to use a bigger L.P. tank when using the grills.
President Hunter made a recommendation that John Beals should receive the Warren Coleman award, Charlene Jarboe should receive the Lion of the Year award, and Willy Morfitt should receive the Volunteer of the Year award. Susan so moved, Second by Jerry; motion passed. Our club has yet to decide who will get the Melvin Jones award.
Bob handed the gavel to Charlene and adjourned the meeting at 8:00 pm.
After adjournment, the 4th of July parade was mentioned. We need to buy more candy, and all willing and available Lions should consider riding on the float.
