Lion Line

Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, August 23, 2017 -- Loren Heckathorne

At our regular meeting we discussed LHD Float preparation and riders for the parade. We will stage at the old Donnelley building. John will wear the Lions costume.

Jim made a motion to accept Lisa Hartman's membership application, Second by Willy. Motion Approved. Susan Radke inducted both Lisa Hartman and Mike Miller. Jerry was Lisa's sponsor and Terrance was Mike's sponsor.

Jim also gave a picnic report and said who received various awards. There were 28 people at our picnic. Charlene also gave a report about the Youth Exchange Feed.

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, August 23, 2017, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Jerry Radke called the meeting to order at 8:05 pm and acted as Chairperson, with the following members present:

Jim Fenn Loren Heckathorne Bob Hunter
Carlene Hunter Charlene Jarboe Paul Malsom
Willy Morfitt Jerry Radke Susan Radke
Mike Seaboch

Secretary Heckathorne read the minutes from the July 12 Board meeting. Mike Seaboch made a motion to approve the Minutes as read, Second by Susan Radke. Motion passed.

Treasurer John Beals was not present; President Radke read his financial report for August. Jim Fenn made a motion to accept the financial report, Second by Charlene Jarboe. Motion passed.

There were two bills for Windsor manor: $77.00 and $82.50 which don't need Board approval. There was a bill for parade candy to Jim for $47.11 and a bill to Paul for the picnic for $139.68. Also for bills, it was noted that Charlene charged $55.84 for Bologna and $2.98 for butter at Fareway. These two items were for the Youth Exchange Feed. (I'm missing the sweet corn, which Charlene paid for: $36 maybe?) Susan made a Motion and Second by Bob to pay the bills. Motion passed.

Bob Hunter reported that our trailer is insured. He sent a certificate to the city of Nevada. Information about Lions Clubs International insurance for projects was sent electronically.

Jim was to look into new Lions shirts, but hadn't done so, as yet.

We discussed fundraisers next. Jim purchased peaches from Marshalltown. There were 30 peaches in a lug and they were very large. The lug cost $28. Jim also reported that the peaches weren't as sweet as he expected.

For new business we discussed the LHD float and parade. We don't want a pancake fundraiser in September or October, but instead, wait for Breakfast with Santa in December.

President Jerry asked about the frequency of Newsletters. Should they be monthly or quarterly? Jim suggested 2 emails a month for our new Lions.

Susan will look into obtaining magnetic badges for those who want them.

Motion by Susan to adjourn, Second by Bob and we adjourned at 8:40.

Loren Heckathorne, Secretary
