Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, January 9, 2019 - Loren Heckathorne
The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, Jan 9, 2019, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Susan Radke called the meeting to order at 8:03 pm and acted as Chairperson, with the following members present:
John Beals Bob Hunter Loren Heckathorne Charlie Lloyd Charlene Jarboe Paul Malsom Willy Morfitt Sandy Richardson Jerry Radke Susan Radke Carlene Hunter We immediately launched into a demonstration and discussion of our new sound system. It's an all in one speaker array system, with hand held and lapel microphone. The cost is $800. John Beals noted that we only have $1400 in admin fund. Charlie Lloyd made a motion to approve the new sound system, Second by Bob. Motion passed.
Susan read a thank you from Kristen Mueller to Willy, thanking us for her glasses. Bob read a thank you for the gift baskets from school nurses Eileen and Lisa. Susan read a thank you from Marilyn for the Christmas gift.
Secretary Heckathorne read the Minutes from the previous Board meeting. John made a motion to approve the Minutes, Second by Charlie. Motion passed.
John presented the Treasurer's report. Bob made a motion to accept the Treasurer's report, Second by Charlene. Motion passed.
Bills of account: paper sacks $32.61 and Kidsight $6.08 to John, for envelopes. Jerry made a motion to pay the bills, Second by Charlene. Motion passed.
Sandy donated Christmas expenses for candy/flowers/paper. Should we send a Thank you to school for choir performance? It was noted that we paid $100 for the choir performance.
For old or unfinished business, Jim George is the new Peach Sales Chair, but Jim Fenn will still store peaches. Susan hasn't finished the pamphlet as yet. Sandy wanted to know whether or not we found the original scholarship criteria. We haven't found it. John gave a final Kidsight Report: 91 children screened with 6 referred.
New business -- Harmony Clothing Closet needs volunteers. Jan 14 was suggested. It was suggested that our club could do this once a month. There is no organized event by our club, but individual volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
There was a letter from United Way, but nobody wanted to do this. Also, the Dental Clinic, but it was noted that this is in Ames. We did give to this at least once - years ago. There was no motion on this topic.
The Nevada Chamber has an event at the Country Club on Jan 24 for $30, but no one wanted to go.
The Recycling truck was sent out while the weather is good. It was only half-full.
There was a Pancake report on the back of the Treasurer's report from John. We made $2091 profit.
Sandy reported on the Christmas meal. It was cheaper than she expected.
Charlie moved for Adjournment, Second by Charlene and we adjourned at 8:40 pm.
