The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors Meeting July 7, 2008 at the Story County Medical Center with Janice Schmidt as hostess. The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm by President Jerry Radke who acted as Chairman with the following members present:

Motion to approve the minutes of June 2008 was made by Bob Hunter, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
Treasurer's report was given by Bob Hunter. Motion to approve the Treasurer's report made by John Beals, seconded by Paul Malsom. Motion approved.
Motion to have an audit as there is a new Treasurer made by Janice Schmidt, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
The Finance Committee will check the income from the Money Market Fund at Edward Jones.
Bills presented: Paul Malsom, candy for July 4, $39.93: Lions International, magazines, 18.00: Gates Hall, 150.00; Party Supplies, recycle banner, 85.31. Motion to pay bills presented made by John Beals, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
Jerry Radke reported that 15 people, 3 of whom were from the ISU Lions Club, served at the 4-H Convention Dinner at ISU.
July 4th Parade: The float had 5 girls from the Lions Softball Team riding as well Lions and Cody Beals.
Steve Jordening reported that he had talked with Woodruff Construction and they were going to build the steps for the paper recycling trailer tomorrow but tomorrow hasn't gotten here yet.
International Youth Camp Meal: Motion to serve sweet corn and bologna was made by Charlene Jarboe, seconded by Willie Morfitt.
After discussion about the price of sweet corn a motion to amend the motion that Charlene purchase the sweet corn and bologna was made by Steve Jordening, seconded by Willie Morfitt. Motion approved.
The motion as amended was approved.
Charlene Jarboe reported that serving breakfast for RAGBRAI will be from 6:00 am until 11:30 am July 23.
Lions District 9MC has received a $10,000 LCIF grant to be disbursed as $50 vouchers for cleaning supplies etc. Iowa Lions received a $50,000 grant to be used for things that other organizations do not pay for due to flood damage.
Farm Progress Show will be August 26-28. Need volunteers.
Motion to grant request of Lynn Harris for member-at-large status for health reasons made by Steve Jordening, seconded by Willie Morfitt. Motion approved.
