Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, June 12, 2019 - Loren Heckathorne
The Nevada Lions Club held a business meeting, during our regular dinner meeting, June 12, 2019, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Susan Radke called the meeting to order at 7:20 pm and acted as Chairperson, with the following members present:
John Beals Jim Fenn Jim George Loren Heckathorne Bob Hunter Carlene Hunter Charlene Jarboe Steve Jordening Charlie Lloyd Paul Malsom Willy Morfitt Jerry Radke Susan Radke Sandy Richardson Mike Seaboch Treasurer John had a pancake summary, but many of the expenses weren't known at this time. Susan read a thank-you, and then we started discussing pancakes. For next year, we should get a date well in advance. Paul will pick date after checking community calendar. We could establish our spring pancake fundraiser at a fixed time each year. Easter may get in the way. Last Saturday in April, maybe? Paul picked April 25 for this coming year.
Peach Sales -- We need to get sales done by the end of June. June 1 thru June 30.
Picnic was set to July 10 for this year. Vice presidents are in charge of this. We need to let Windsor know. The Secretary can contact the winners to invite them and their families to our picnic. John Beals will provide secretary with names and contact information.
LHD (Lincoln Highway Days) will be August 24 and 25 this year.
Motion: Authorize a committee consisting of Jim, Jim and Mike to negotiate with Mason City Recycling for whatever terms are needed to keep the project going, so that they will continue to pick up our loads, Motion by Steve Jordening, 2nd by Sandy Richardson as amended by Jim Fenn, 2nd by Steve Jordening. Motion passed.
Need to call the city to have a flyer in the electric bill. Need to print 1500 flyers for this. Need to put ad in paper and advertise on Facebook.
Susan set the date for installation of new officers for June 26.
Vote of confidence for scholarship funds investments. Authorize finance committee to invest scholarship funds where they deem best. Charlene made the motion, 2nd by Jim. Motion passed.
Bring Main Street to Nevada -- historic preservation. They are asking for a 3 year pledge. Improve buildings facing main street?
We did the Treasurer's report next, which John presented. Steve Jordening moved to accept the report, 2nd by Charlie Lloyd. Motion passed.
Secretary Heckathorne read the Minutes from the previous Board meeting and from the business meeting May 22. Charlie made a motion to approve the Minutes as corrected, Second by Charlene. Motion passed.
Bills of account: Pancake Day expenses $163.50, meals for May of $162.50. No motion is needed for these.
It was noted that we had 14 peach sales during Pancake Day and that Deb Malsom sold most of these. A special thanks to Deb.
Jim passed out a spread sheet from last year's peach sales. These people should be contacted again, by the same people as last year. When making a sale, collect the money immediately, before turning it in to Jim George. Motion for $55 Advertisement and also put something into the Sun for $88 by Jim, 2nd by Charlie. Later amended by Steve and Jim to authorize whatever they deem necessary for publicity and enhancement.
July 29 is sweet corn and bologna at McCallsburg.
Motion to adjourn by Steve, 2nd by Charlene and we adjourned at 8:43.

Steve Jordening made a motion to make Tom Geist a member of our club, 2nd by Sandy. Motion passed.
We did some planning for the July 4 parade, but I have no notes for the details.
Sweet corn and bologna at the Youth Exchange camp - the date, is July 15. Charlene, Willy and Loren will go.
Lions schedule for next year is a sheet, front and back. Paul may do a booklet later. Peach sale end changed to June 30 on next year's schedule.

Erica installed our club's officers for 2019-20.
