The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting in the Community Room of the Nevada Public Library with Lion Dwight Bonham hosting. The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by President Paul Malsom who acted as chairman. The following members were in attendance:

Secretary Jerry Radke read the minutes of the 6 October 2003 board meeting. Lion Jean moved to accept the minutes, seconded by Lion Dwight, and passed. Treasurer Dean Howell reported a checking account balance of $13,281.50. Secretary Jerry Radke presented the following bills: 1) Lions Clubs International for awards = $42.24, 2) Nevada Chamber of Commerce for membership = $110, 3) Iowa Lions District 9x7 for state and district dues = $252, 4) Paul Malsom for Sight Night Polaroid film = $39.46, and 5) Memorial Lutheran Church for Sight Night food = $195.21. Lion Susan moved to pay the bills, seconded by Lion Jean and passed.
Lion John reported that we still have two ISU games to work. Lions Dwight, Loren, Paul, Jim Perkins, Jerry, and John will work the Kansas State Game on 8 November and six Lions are signed up for the 15 November game.
Lion Jerry reported that we received $178.63 for Sight Night from dinner donations, $5 from picture donations, and $112 from coloring book sales. Lion Jean reported that 172 were served dinner. Children were given treats from the trunks of cars parked in the Memorial Lutheran Church parking lot. Lion President Paul took pictures of children with our Gentle Lion (Jim Perkins) while Lions Bob Hobson, Jean, and Willy Morfitt sold large coloring books for $6 each or two for $10.
Spouse and Special Guest Night will be 12 November 2003 with the Tail Twisters in charge. They will invite the widows and get a count for our caterer. Table decorations, prizes, and entertainment will be obtained.
Lion President Paul reminded the board to be thinking of projects for the $10,000 gift from Margaret Maliet's estate. Lion Charles mentioned that buildings at the Fairgrounds need some updating. The Historical Society also needs money and help to move the log cabin from the fairgrounds to Evergreen Lane. Additional possibilities are desired.
Lion Susan reported that the establishment of a Leo Club at Nevada High School is a good possibility. We need to invite District Leo Chair, Tom Wilson, to a future meeting. Lion Jerry said we should get the Leo kit to help guide us. Lion Charles moved to start a local Leo Club by doing the necessary ground work and getting Lion Tom Wilson to guide our efforts. The motion was seconded by Lion Susan and passed.
Our December board meeting will be at the Paul Malsom home on 1 December 2003 at 7 pm. Lion Charles moved to adjourn, seconded by Lion Duane, and we adjourned at 8:03 pm.
