Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, September 13, 2017 -- Loren Heckathorne
At our regular meeting, Jim Fenn gave an LHD Parade report. Everything went well.
Then, we also discussed possible new Lions members.
There was a sign-up for Recycling Paper work, since Mike needs time off. We need Lions to work about 4 hours per week and it requires heavy lifting.
Getting new shirts was discussed. Cindy Knock embroidery was one possible source. Other options are Cubs and also Siggler in Ames.

It was noted that the Colorado peaches were not as sweet as expected, but some years all peaches are less sweet than other years. There is an issue with the fact that we don't have a cool place to store the peaches. Therefore, we need to deliver them right off the truck. We can call the customers to pick up their peaches. We may want to order and sell extra lugs. We should start selling in May. Bob Hunter made a motion to give peach sales a try; Second by Jim Fenn. Motion passed. There are still questions about sales forms and about advertisement.
The recycle truck will go next week. It was noted that there is a lot of cardboard in this load.
The topic of magnetic badges was discussed. There was a motion to order the small magnetic badges for $5.75 each. They are pre-printed. We need to order one at a time for new members.
Kidsight screenings are coming up October 11, 12 and 13. It was noted that the elementary school has a new principal. Lil' Cubs is set for Wednesday morning, Head Start is set for Thursday morning and the Elementary School is all day Friday. There was a motion about Kidsight advertising by Jim Fenn and Seconded by Bob Hunter. We will use our street sign to inform the public about Lions Service -- wording to be determined.
Our Lions club chose Monday November 20 for Food at First. The hours are 4:30 to 7:00 pm. We need to start at about 4:30 and serve meals from 5:30 to 6:00, with clean-up until 7:00 pm. We need to serve 40 to 60 meals, including takeout.
Jerry, Susan and John attended the Zone Meeting at the state office in Ames, but had little to report.
