The following prayer was given by Lion Jerry Radke at the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Nevada Lions Club, held May 20, 1998 at Gates Memorial Hall in Nevada, Iowa.
Dear Heavenly Father,We thank you for the opportunity to gather together as Lions and friends to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Nevada Lions Club. Please bless the International Association of Lions Clubs, Lions' President Howard L. Patterson Jr., his cabinet, international directors, and all Lions' officers right down to our District, Zone, and local Lions clubs. Grant that the work that Lions do, especially in the areas of sight and hearing, will benefit individuals and groups in our local communities and throughout the world. Help the Lions organization to continually grow and provide increasingly greater service to all men and women.
Please look with favor on the efforts of the Nevada Lions Club. Rejuvenate present Lions members for greater service into the next 50 years. Provide the club new members with energy and enthusiasm to help carry the load and to devise innovative ways to serve the Nevada community as well as providing for national and international needs. Bless the leaders of this club and let them go forward with vigor and purpose to serve even better.
We thank you for Charter members William Tipton and Argyll Thompson. They have provided inspiration and leadership over the past 50 years. We also remember all of the Lions that have ever belonged to the Nevada Lions Club, especially those who are deceased. Bless everyone who has contributed to the Nevada Lions Club.
Please bless everyone attending tonight and grant them all a safe journey home after the celebration. Now bless the food we are about to receive. Let the nourishment provide us with increased energy to fulfill our motto: "We Serve". We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
